There was chaos and confusion Saturday at the Metro Mass Transit Transport terminal in Tamale when angry passengers took matters into their hands and locked out management and Tamale-bound buses.

The passengers decision to lock the main entrance to the yard was due to the failure of management to provide them scheduled buses for their destination.

According to the passengers, they had bought tickets to embark on the 12 hour journey to Accra, their final destination with reporting and departure time at 7 a.m. Saturday. However much to their chagrin, the departure time was pushed to 1 p.m without as much as an official explanation.

This angered the passengers culminating in the locking of the gate. This is the second time Accra bound passengers from Tamale have embark on such action to draw attention to their plight.

In 2016, passengers were angered by management’s failure to have Buses scheduled to take off at 1 p.m. for Tamale-Yendi, Tamale-Zabzugu leave on time.

When Zaa News got to the yard at Poloya Fong, a suburb of Tamale metropolis  there was total confusion between the Tamale-Accra passengers and passengers bound for other districts.

An angry passenger who gave his name only as Michael told Zaa News they were at the stations as early as 7 a.m and were supposed for Accra at 9 a.m but metro mass management failed them.

“We went to the manager and we were told passengers can’t speak to the manager anyhow so we left with explanation that we should exercise patience till 2 p.m.We called the manager in-charge of the Tamale branch who promised the bus will be available in 20 minutes time but that didn’t happen.”

All efforts to get top management speak on matter prove futile and conductors and lower rank officers declined comment.
