Aboabo Market Traders Lament Poor Sanitation At The Market

Traders at the Aboabo market in Tamale are up in arms about the poor sanitation situation at the market. They complained that the market is engulfed with filth, flies and emits a pungent smell. The traders who spoke to Zaa News, stressed that the market is inundated with plastic waste and choked gutters.

They noted that they had to deal, on a regular basis, with the unbearable stench that emanates from the filth close to them. They said even though the market is paved and several efforts have been made to address the problem permanently, no meaningful result has been achieved.

The traders said recent perennial rains have worsened the situation, making it difficult for clients to access the market. They therefore called on city authorities to do something drastic in order to improve the sanitation situation in the market. Meanwhile efforts to reach the Waste Management Directorate of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly for comment, proved futile.
