Mrs Marriam Iddrisu, Municipal Chief Executive of the Sagnarigu district has announced that all the four Senior High Schools (SHS) within the Sagnarigu  municipality are to be fumigated by the Zoomlion Ghana limited.

Haji Iddrisu explained that the fumigation exercise was due to the invasion of bedbugs that have engulfed second cycle institutions in the municipality.

“I have instructed my coordinator to link up with the manager of Zoomlion to set a team for the commencement of the spraying exercise, ” she added.

While she sought to protect students from bugs, the municipal chief executive did not hesitate to commend the waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited and the Nasara Youth at Gumani for their efforts to get rid of filth in the area.

The Sagnarigu MCE, who participated in a communal labour organized by the the Gumani based Nasara Youth Association, entreated community members to emulate their example. Hajia Marriam also urged Zoomlion Ghana Limited to continue to help ensure that the communities are clean.

She commended Zoomlion for providing logistics, technical and staff support for the cleaning. The youth explained that their initiative to engage in cleaning was because Gumani is one of the flood prone areas in the Tamale Metropolis.

The youth instead of exercising their bodies through football and other sporting activities at the weekends, have resolved to channel much of their weekend time to cleaning choked gutters and their immediate surroundings.

The Gumani youth are therefore collaborating with the waste management giant  and other organizations to ensure that the community is free of filth.
The Gumani Nasara Youth Association, pleaded with other youth groups to channel their efforts in cleaning their surroundings instead of engaging in acts that are detrimental to the development of the Tamale metro and Sagnarigu municipality.

On his part, the Northern Regional Vector control officer, Abdul Aziz Yelisuma said Zoomlion is committed to keeping the country clean with the help of community members.
Zoomlion, while reiterating its commitment to ensuring that the country is clean, pleaded with community members to help their efforts to holistically keep Ghana clean.

Mr Aziz appealed to youth in other communities to inculcate the habit of cleaning their communities.
