The Member of Parliament for Mion constituency Dr. Yakubu Ahmed Alhassan has pleaded with members of the Mion Youth Association (MYA) to develop the attitude of love for one another.
Dr. Alhassan who was defeated at the National Democratic Congress presidential and parliamentary primaries last year told the youth to always preach unity in their various communities. According to Dr. Alhassan, unity is the only way for sustainable development in the area.
The MP made the appeal during the 6th biennial congress of the association at Sambu on Saturday.
The Congress which was on the theme; “Fostering Unity in Diversity; The Role of Mion,” emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence and unity among the people of the area. Students in the Mion constituency were advised to take their studies seriously.
The Mion MP, who is also the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture-in-charge of crops, cautioned the youth to always put the peace they preach into practice for unity to prevail in the Mion district
The Gushegu District Health Director, Alhaji B.A Yakubu, who was the guest speaker at the congress, emphasized the need for political tolerance, saying it is a tool that everybody should possess for the welfare of Mion and mother Ghana.
The President of the Mion Youth Association, Mohammed Abubakari Sadiq, made a passionate appeal to all natives from Mion, irrespective of the communities and tribes they belong to, to take Mion as their mother land.
