The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari Mahama Gariba II, has arrived in Tamale ahead of the 62nd independence celebration. The Ya Naa will rest in Tamale and attend the Independence Day’s celebration at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium Tuesday morning.
The overlord will be ushered into his private residence by the paramount chief of Kumbungu who is the chief warrior of Dagbon.
All paramount chiefs and divisional chiefs are expected to pay homage and also accompany the overlord to the national independence celebration venue tomorrow.
He arrived at about 1:30 pm Tuesday with larger crowd some of whom were on horses, motor bikes and vehicles.
The overlord was in his customized jaguar saloon car with heavy security.
The vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has arrived in Tamale for tomorrow’s event ahead of the president.
At about 5:00 pm local time, ministers of state also arrived at the Tamale airport.
