The Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Daniel Bugre Naabu has accused the Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Abdallah Abubakari of arming NDC youth with AK 47s in the Walewale constituency to cause mayhem.

Mr Bugre Naabu said he is reliably informed that the regional minister, who doubles as the NDC parliamentary candidate for Walewale is providing guns for supporters of the governing party and that some youth in Tamale have also been promised guns to unleash violence on their political opponents.

The maverick chairman and the NPP Walewale constituency secretary, Mr. Simon Ali mentioned the regional minister’s brother, Mr. Zakaria Iddrisu, as the one who ignited the recent clashes between two youth groups, the Bawumia Youth for Change and the NDC Youth, which he called, the Abuba Boys.

The NPP has given indications that until the minister’s brother is arrested by the police, the security will not have it easy. The party is also demanding from the President of the Republic to call the minister to order.

The NPP Regional secretary said their supporters will be equally prepared because as they put it, the NPP is winning this year’s elections whether NDC likes it or not.

When Zaa News contacted the northern regional minister, Mr. Abubakari, he rubbished the NPP’s claims and attributed their allegations to the NPP’s partisanship and desperation for power and its lack of preparedness for the elections.

The minister described all the allegations as lies and an attempt to malign him and tarnish his hard earned reputation as a development person.

He also explained that he was on an official national assignment to commission rural electrification project in the Kpandai district and only got to Walewale after the two youth groups had clashed.

Additionally, he described the NPP Walewale constituency secretary as a prolific liar with no reputation to protect when he tagged the NDC youth as Abuba alutta boys when their real name is NDC’s Zaadiaya youth.

He explained that, he got to Walewale as a parliamentary candidate for the NDC and was invited by the youth for the program at 20 after 6pm.

“I was informed on my arrival at Walewale that there was a clash between the two party’s youth,” Mr. Abubakari explained. “I was reliably informed that two NDC youth went to inform the NPP chairman about the consistent provocation of some NPP boys.”

He explained further that the NPP considers him a threat to win the seat and in an attempt to save Dr Bawumia’s reputation everything is being done to to attack my personality and tarnish my reputation.

On Bugre Naabu’s allegations, Mr Abubakari said, “He does not deserve my attention; if he knows my previous profession, he will know that I am qualified to be president of Ghana.”

The minister who doubles as chairman of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) said he is focused as the regional minister on delivering his mandate to transform the lives of the people in the region. He said he will continue to meet stakeholders in peace to ensure that the region remains peaceful during and after this year’s elections.
