It does not look like the northern branch of the NPP will know peace any time soon as some women constituents, polling stations organizers and a coalition of the governing New Patriotic Party youth in the northern region have warned the regional chairman, Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu to watch his tongue and utterances over the appointment of a northern regional coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Program (GSFP).
The group said the pronouncement by Mr. Naabu on issues since the party returned to power has the tendency of sending the party back to opposition and he must stop.
They issued a stem warning that they will resist any attempt by Mr. Naabu to impose one Madam Felicia as regional school feeding program coordinator.
Their reasons are that Madam Felicia cannot count up to ten women organizers of NPP if they parade them and it will be very difficult to work with her. They maintained that, the minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection whose ministry has supervisory role over the program be allowed to select the coordinator who they can work with.
Addressing a news conference the women organizers and youth said they are fed up with Chairman Naabu for his constant media presence which they said will dent the party’s image and affect its electoral fortunes.

PRESS CONFERENCE BY COALITION OF YOUTH GROUPS AND WOMEN WING OF THE NPP IN THE
NORTHERN REGION ON THURSDAY, 27TH JULY, 2017
RE: PRESIDENT AKUFFO ADDO MUST IMMEDIATELY APPOINT NATIONAL AND REGIONAL COORDINATORS FOR GHANA SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM TO SAVE IT FROM COLLAPSING UNDER THE CURRENT GENDER AND SOCIAL PROTECTION MINISTER MADAM OTIKO AFISA DJABA
Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the media. We are very grateful to you for honoring our invitation on this short notice. We, the coalition of youth groups and women groups within the northern region have invited you this morning to use your medium to address a very important issue which has the tendency of greatly affecting the fortunes of the NPP in the northern Region.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, our attention has been drawn to a press conference by a group purported to be made up of women organizers of NPP within the three northern region on the 24th of July 2017. In the said press conference, this group made several proclamations regarding the School feeding program.
Among other things, the said group made several allegations against the minister for gender and social protection, Madam Otiko Djaba, accusing her of causing divisions within women in the region. They further accused the gender and social protection minister of recruiting caterers across the length and breadth of the country, including the Northern Region.
The group also made allegations of corruption within the ministry and called for action from the president and other authorities in their said alleged corruption scandal.
The group further accused the northern deputy women's organizer of the NPP, Miss Hajia Safia of extorting money from individuals within the region.
The worse part of the press conference from this group further sought to dictate to the president on how the appointment of the staff and other official of the program should be done.
We, the coalition of youth groups and women groups of the NPP wish to state categorically for the benefit of the entire leadership of the government that:
1. The said group which staged the press conference on the 24th of July, 2017, were not women organizers of the NPP. These women were organized by the Regional chairman of the NPP, Mr. Bugri Naabu to dent the image of the Minister for Gender and social protection, Madam Otiko Djaba, in an attempt to settle their old score and to further his course of getting one lady, Felicia of Tacorabama appointed as Coordinators of the school feeding program.
2. The said press conference took place at the residence of the Regional chairman of the NPP, Mr. Bugri Naabu and was purposely organized by the Regional Chairman for his own parochial interest.
3. All the allegations raised in their said conference regarding the Minister for Children and Social protection are frivolous and without basis. All in an attempt to achieve a long standing interest of the Regional chairman, Mr. Bugri Naabu.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, fellow party people, at this point, we wish to state for the record that the youth of the party are the pillars of the party and won't sit aloof and watch a selfish cabal send our party into its untimely demise because of their personal selfish desires.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are well aware of the arrangements and steps seriously taken by the venerable gender minister, Madam Otiko to ensure that all women organizers benefit from the school feeding program and we are solidly behind that healthy move and we commend the Minister for such a marvelous initiative.
Our women organizers are the pillars of our party and resourcing them would be a very good move to strengthen the base of the party.
These are women who have worked with the grassroots and have close ties with various women groups of the party and are well aware of the problems the grassroots face.
These women organizers can only make an impact if they are well resourced.
Based on this, we admonish the appointing authority to give the mandate of the school feeding program to our hard working women organizers.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we shall resist any attempt by the chairman to spoil our party and make it difficult for us in 2016 by going at all ends to ensure that his preferred candidate, a non-executive of our party is nominated as coordinator of the school feeding program, even if it would affect the fortunes of the party.
Ladies and gentlemen of the media, there are 10 regions in Ghana and they are all beneficiaries of this important program and no regional chairman of the NPP has come out to state its disagreement on the current state of the program except Chairman Bugri Naabu .
The northern Regional chairman’s continuous public outbursts, instead of resorting to party structures to solve petty problems have become a recipe for chaos in the party.
Finally, we would like to send notice to the leadership of the party to as a matter of urgency, call the Northern Regional Chairman, Mr. Bugri Naabu to order or very soon, he shall have to face the wrath of the youth of the NPP.
We thank you all for making time out of your busy schedules to attend all this important press conference.
Long live Ghana, long live the NPP.
