The Mamprugu Youth of National Democratic Congress (NDC) have thrown their support behind President John Dramani Mahama's bid for the 2012 general elections.
The youth also congratulated president Mahama for his elevation to the highest office as president of the country following the untimely demise of late President Atta Mills.
The Mamprigu youth have expressed the hope that President Mahama's rich experience in the public office as an MP for 12 years, a deputy Minister and a substantive Minister of Communication and vice President would enable him deliver better in his few months in office.
In a statement issued in Tamale and signed by the group president, Iddrisu Sampa, Salley Ibrahim organiser and Ahmed Mohammed Amidu said president Mahama’s personal attributes couple with excellent communication will help him manage Ghana’s resources to uplift quality living standards of Ghanaians.
The statement also expressed its gratitude to the NDC government for tremendous socio-economic and infrastructural development in Mamprugu traditional area. The statement mentioned the establishment of a college of education at Gambaga, newly established full fledge Senior High Technical School with boarding status at Yagaba and the creation of Moaduri District among others.
It said the educational infrastructure will help provide rural people access to education and well trained teachers and improve the quality of education in the area.
The statement added that the new district will go a long way to create jobs for the people in the area, especially the youth.
The establishment of the new SHS in overseas areas according to the statement will open new opportunities for parents to send their children to schools.
The statement which catelogued a number of developmental projects of the NDC and was optimistic that the Millennium Village Project recently launch by President Mahama under SADA would create bigger opportunities to improve agriculture production which is the main stay of the people in the area.

The youth promised to be vigilant, but peaceful in the activities to ensure that president Mahama’s quest of becoming president was devoid of ’’bloodshed’’.
