Hasten infrastructure development in the North East Gonja District – Chiefs alerts government

The chiefs and people of the North East Gonja District are calling on government to fast track infrastructure development in the area.

They want government to as soon as practicable, provide the district with Senior High School, district hospital, water supply system as well as construct inner roads across the district.

The Paramount Chief of Kpanshegu Abubakari Awudu was speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people of the North Gonja District, in honour of president Nana Akufo-Addo in Kpalbe.

The chief indicates the creation of the district a year ago, was the great thing government had done for the people and urge the president to commensurate the efforts by provide the area with massive infrastructure.

The chief also commended the president for his government’s social intervention policies and programmes of which the people of North Gonja are beneficiaries.

The President, Nana Akufo-Addo assured the chiefs and people of the North East Gonja District of his government’s commitment to address the development challenges highlighted by the chiefs.

He commended them for the warm reception and hoped it will be reflected in the December general elections.

President Nana Akufo-Addo was speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people of the North Gonja District as part of a two day working visit to inspect ongoing projects in the Savannah region.

Meanwhile the District Chief Executive Officer for the North East Gonja, Alhassan Abdallah Iddi is optimistic the district will become a model one, in the next five years.

He says the district is strategically located between the Salaga South Municipality and the Tamale Metropolis and has the potential to catch-up with other districts that have been in existence for decades.

He cites the arable land for commercial agriculture, some water bodies and skilled youth among many potentials that can drive the growth of the area.

The DCE says government has put in place measures including the construction of an office complex for the Assembly for massive infrastructure to commence.
