The Northern regional minister Salifu Saeed has urged the youth in the region to venture into productive activities to develop themselves.

According to him, most young people travel to the southern part of the country in search of jobs that do not exist.

He said this at the opening of Toyota Ghana Company limited (TGCL) showroom in Tamale. The showroom is to engage Toyota customers at their doorsteps in the region.

TGCL started operating in Ghana in 1998 as the Toyota Motor Corporation’s (TMC), sole authorized distributor of Toyota vehicles in Ghana.

It has branches in Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi. Speaking at the occasion, Mr Saeed commended TGCL for opening its branch in the region saying the move will go a long way to improve the routine services of vehicles.

‘’We in the northern part of the country have long waited to see this day come true in our generation. Most of us here are patrons of your vehicles and we have always wondered why your physical presence as a company is not seen in Tamale. Quite often after purchasing your vehicles, we are compelled to drive long distances to either Kumasi or Accra to have just a service carried out or buy just a small spare part to fix a problem. I am delighted that this stress will be a thing of the past with the commissioning of this building today’’, the minister stated.

He said the regional administration, business community and the entire private sector of the Northern region is happy and grateful for the effort.

‘’You are assured of a secured, peaceful and progressive business environment for good profit. It is our expectation that the facility we are commissioning today will achieve its intended purpose and bring greater satisfaction to customers,” the minister reiterated.

Managing director of Toyota Ghana, Takuya Kajiura assured customers of professional attention and excellent automobile consultancy services.

Meanwhile Toyota Ghana also presented some medical facilities to the Tamale West Hospital. The items include two oxygen concentrators, two suction machines and five digital thermometer guns.

Presenting the items, managing director for TGCL Takuya Kajiura said the gesture forms part of TGCL social responsibility for the wellbeing of communities they transact in.

‘’I assure you that Toyota Ghana company Limited will commit resources to support the health, education, environment and road safety needs of this region periodically’’, he indicated.

Mr Takuya said the items will go a long way to improve on the service delivery of the hospital to save lives.

Receiving the items, the Medical Superintendent of the Tamale West hospital commended TGCL for the support and assured that the items will be put to good use.
