More than 1,500 residents in the Tamale North Constituency have received free medical screening for various cancer conditions. The residents were Screened for Breast, Prostate, and Cervical cancer.
The medical outreach was under the auspices of the Member of Parliament for the Tamale North Constituency, Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, in collaboration with Cenda-Ghana and Walk4tities, both women-centered empowerment organizations based in Tamale.
The Tamale North MP’s benevolence was part of the awareness campaign to mark the annual International Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Two screening centers at the Bishop’s and Fuo A.M.E. Zion Junior High Schools in the Choggu and Fuo Electoral Areas, respectively, were set up in order to reach out to many constituents. Apart from the free screening, residents were also educated on the early detection and prevention of all forms of cancer.
Speaking at the Bishop’s screening center, the Chairman of the NDC in the Tamale North Constituency, Alhaji Alhassan Nayi, who represented the MP, said the commitment of Alhaji Suhuyini to better the lot of people can be attributed to his compassionate persona. He noted the MP had done far better for the people in the Tamale North constituency than the Nana Akufo-Addo Bawumia-led government.
The Tamale North Constituency Women Organizer of the NDC, Yakubu Ayishetu, urged women, who are mostly beneficiaries of the MP’s interventions, to vote massively for Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini in the 2024 election for more opportunities.
The Executive Director of Cenda-Ghana, Mohammed Tijani, indicated that collaboration with the MP was necessary to relieve the people.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the MP for the screening, saying the exercise has helped them know their health statuses for better treatment.
