Halid Prince Mukadi Gbramoni, Head of Sports at Zaa Multimedia, has stated emphatically that Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, should be commended for the role he is playing when it comes to the development of club football in the Northern Region, despite being a politician as well. The Member of Parliament for Tamale South, whose love for the beautiful game never seems to wane. He has since invested so much in football in his home region and even outside the northern region, undoubtedly making club football in the region more attractive.
Prince stated in his write-up that this is particularly the case in the Northern part of Ghana, where it is uncommon to see a Northerner supporting footballers from Northern-based clubs. “If his compatriots were to join hands with him to invest financially in northern-based clubs and players, they would have changed the minds of many well-meaning northerners who are financially sound but lack interest in the football industry within a short period of time. Football in the region would flourish. I have a sense of optimism that there is light at the end of the tunnel for club football in the Northern Region,” he added.
According to Prince Mukadi, Hon. Harunaa Iddrisu is very eager to identify fresh football talent inside this region, and as such, he asserts that the nation must find and nurture the football potential that exists in the remote parts of the region, which, in my opinion, is exactly what Hon. Haruna is doing.
“He has made our sporting fraternity more popular by owning Steadfast and Karela Utd.” “This makes our football more attractive when people like him are involved in our northern football,” he concludes.
