The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (CSIR-SARI) has embarked on a transformative initiative to enhance agricultural productivity in Ghana. As part of this mission, CSIR-SARI recently hosted seed companies from the northern region at its Technology Park in Nyankpala, creating an interactive platform for seed producers to explore a range of seeds and innovative farming techniques available at the institute’s facilities.
Located in Nyankpala, the CSIR-SARI Technology Park is a flagship project dedicated to advancing agriculture in the region and beyond. The park provides hands-on training and showcases cutting-edge agricultural technologies, offering invaluable insights to farmers, agricultural professionals, and researchers alike. Through these resources, the park aims to address critical challenges in agriculture and foster sustainable farming practices that contribute to food security.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Francis Kusi, Director General of CSIR-SARI, emphasized the institute’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s agricultural sector. “Our agenda is to contribute significantly to Ghana’s agricultural growth,” Dr. Kusi stated, highlighting SARI’s role in strengthening the nation’s agricultural sector through research-driven innovation.
Amadu Alhassan, a representative from the Northern Region branch of the Seed Producers Association of Ghana, expressed appreciation for CSIR-SARI’s leadership in advancing seed production technology. The collaboration, he noted, will enable local seed companies to access modern resources, ultimately boosting seed quality and productivity across the region.
With this initiative, CSIR-SARI is poised to make a lasting impact on agricultural development in northern Ghana, bolstering seed production efforts and supporting the country’s broader goals of food security and sustainable agriculture.
