Many were those who thought that Ghana on the 7th January, 2017 has had a president she is long been looking for. An accomplished politician and a lead human rights lawyer and advocate.
Sadly, such people were soon to be disappointed with the appointment of the largest number of his family and friends including former girlfriend and biological daughter in to top government position. Sooner than imagined, the final sector was highjacked, followed by judicial manipulation which culminated into the formation of the infamous UNANIMOUS FC.
Ghanaians voted for a hanged parliament with the speaker from the opposition party. The first of its kind in Ghana under the 4th republic.
When speaker Bagbin ruled that the 137 NPP MPs plus the independent makes it the majority group, the NPP members and their supporters were happy.
When speaker Bagbin allowed his earlier decision on the 2021 budget to be overruled by his deputy speaker, again the NPP were happy and saw him as a true statesman. Also, when he allowed the E-Levy to be passed despite the walkout of the NDC members with the absence of one or two NPP MPs, he was hailed high.
Today, when he refused a direct interference by the subtle NPP UNANIMOUS FC on the true independence of the legislature, speaker Bagbin is now seen as supervising chaos.
Woooooow.
Interestingly, both the National Peace Council and the Council of State members have suddenly found their voice by appealing to the speaker to allow these direct assaults on our democracy to prevail
The question to both useless councils is this; Does peace means one person allowing him/herself to be bullied at all times without appealing to the aggressor to stop his/her aggression at least for once ?.
War has no winner. War know no big man or ordinary person, chiefs or subjects, rich or poor. The Allah in Ghana is same Allah in Sudan, Sria, Ukraine, Libya etc.
Ghana is the only country we have.
