Election is all about strategy. Strategy on campaign, message, monitoring and collation of results on time. Former president Rawlings in 2016 at Cape coast warned the NDC not to mimic the NPP for they are masters in their own game. Rawlings went further to indicate that we should go back to the core values of the NDC.
Sadly, instead looking at the message and it’s relevance, we decided to look at the messenger.
Similarly, when the current impass started in parliament as to the status of the 4 MPs, Hon Ras Mubarak cautioned that it was a waste of time and a diversionary tactics. Again instead of looking at the message vis a vis it’s relevance, we decided to concentrate on the messenger.
Of course, Hon Ras got it wrong when he decided to personalized it as an issue of Hon Haruna Iddrisu, never the less, the strategy committee of the NDC if any should have thought deep in to it.
The neck of the government and Dr Alhaji Apostle Bawumia was almost choked with the issue of galamsey and pressure from organised labour. The deal was almost sealed for the NDC victory.
However, from within the NDC, we voluntarily gave them a briefing space by unnecessarily shifting our attention and the attention of the media to the majority/minority debate. Hon Alexander Afenyo Markin was smart to capitalize on that by steering this current controversy.
Without thinking of the future implications of their ruling, and without basing the ruling on law and precedence but rather on emotions, the chief justice as usual further cemented the strategy of the government. No prominence in the media now on galamsey, manipulative attitude of EC and cost of living. All is now majority/minority. Does this solve the excruciating hash economic conditions we live in ?.
My beloved NDC must sit up. We are slowly giving in to the manipulations of the government. I feel so sad as a student of political history.
