The Regent of Dagbon Kampakuya Naa, Andani Yakubu Abdulai has appealed to the management of the National Investment Bank (NIB) and stake holders to consider granting loans to farmers and market women in their catchment area.
According to the regent, establishing a bank is key to the development of a country. He made the appeal through Wuulana Abdulai Sulemana at the commissioning of the Bank’s branch in the Yendi municipality.
Yendi is the fifth branch to be opened in the northern region and the 16th branch of the bank’s expansion drive which commenced last year.
The Kampakuya naa also appealed to the bank to assist women in soap making, tie and dye making, shea-butter processing and other hands-on training in the area. He therefore advised them not to hesitate to call on him any time they have difficulties.
The Deputy Northern regional minister, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini who represented the Northern Regional Minister, Abdalah Abubakari commended the board and management of the bank for bringing such development to the people of the northern region.
He further challenged the people in the Yendi municipality to, as a matter of importance, patronize the facility for their own benefit.
The minister also appealed to the people to work together as one people in order to bring more development to the area.
He was also quick to advise the youth to venture into productive activities and appealed to the management of the bank to consider the interest of the large segment of the population, which is mainly agriculture.
