UDS Field Practical students face accommodation challenges

Some students of the University for Development Studies (UDS) have appealed to communities, government and benevolent organizations to help ease accommodation challenges facing them during their Third Trimester Field Practical Program (TTFPP).

The call follows Zaa News’ visit to some communities in the East Gonja district of the northern region to ascertain their accommodation status. The communities visited include Kpalibe, Nyamaliga and Fu.  Narrating their ordeal to a Zaa reporter, a level 100 community nutrition student, Mr. Alhassan Mohammed Baba, said they are not only sharing sleeping places with kids, but are also perching with married people in single rooms.

Mr. Baba, however, disclosed that there were few teachers’ quarters to stay in. This, he lamented, makes life difficult for both students and the indigenes of the operational areas.

Though the two-year TTFPP aims at giving the students first-hand experience about community or rural life and for them to be able to fit well where their services would be needed in serving mother Ghana, the accommodation issues are making their stay unbearable.

Mr. Baba said the accommodation challenges facing UDS TTFPP required stakeholders to get a solution to the impasse.
