Kambonsiya Muslim Community Appeals for New Mosque and Makaranta

0

The Muslim Ummah in Kambonsiya, a farming community in the Karaga district of the Northern Region, has issued a heartfelt appeal for assistance in constructing a mosque and a makaranta (Islamic school) to cater to their religious needs. The community, which has no befitting mosque for Jummah prayers, is calling on Islamic philanthropists, organizations, and well-meaning individuals to come to their aid.

With an estimated population of about 400 adults, excluding children, Kambonsiya’s current mosque falls far short of the community’s needs. During daily prayers, the small structure can only accommodate a fraction of the worshippers, forcing many to pray under the scorching sun, particularly on Fridays when the Jummah prayers draw larger crowds. The situation becomes even more dire during the rainy season when worshippers must scrape water from the mosque before they can perform their prayers.

The mosque, which also serves as a makaranta for over 100 children in the community, is in urgent need of replacement. Every night, these children gather at the mosque to receive their Islamic education, but the inadequate and deteriorating structure poses significant challenges. The residents of Kambonsiya have expressed their concerns and have called for help to construct a more suitable mosque that can comfortably accommodate their growing population.

In a recent interview with Zaa News, members of the Kambonsiya community shared their struggles and reiterated their commitment to contributing to the project. They revealed that the community has already allocated land for the construction of a new mosque and makaranta. However, they lack the financial resources to undertake such a significant project on their own.

“We are doing our best, but we need help,” one community member said. “Our current mosque is small, and it leaks when it rains. We cannot continue like this. We need a proper place to observe our prayers and teach our children.”
