Authorities and students at the Gusheigu MA JHS have expressed worry over the delay in receiving PPEs to enhance healthy teaching and learning.
Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) announced the reopening of SHS 2 and JHS 2 students to enable them to complete the 2nd semesters and 3rd terms respectively on Monday, October 5, 2020.
All schools across the country were interrupted upon its closure by government as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a communique, the GES had early on assured students, teachers, parents and the general public of the necessary measures they’ve put in place to ensure the safety of all while at school.
“All schools have been fumigated and disinfected. In addition Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) have been distributed to all schools,” the GES assured parents.
But this is not the case at the Gusheigu MA JHS as all students and teachers at the time of filing this report were without nose masks upon a visit to the school by the Zaa News crew.
According to the authorities, the GES informed them of receiving the PPE’s soon after reopening but they are yet to receive the items to aid in teaching and learning in the era of COVID-19.
“We contacted the GES about it and they said we will receive it soon but as to how soon, we can’t tell,” the authorities lamented.
They are appealing to the GES to as a matter of urgency provide them with the PPE’s to prevent them from contracting the Covid-19.
Currently, Ghana has recorded a total of 47,005 cases with 46,398 recovered and 306 deaths.
