Because it lacks a drainage system, Buipe, the central Gonja district capital, suffers perennially from floods. Several flood disasters in the past destroyed a lot of properties.
Residents of the community are appealing to authorities to construct gutters to prevent further disasters. They lamented the damage caused by floods and the assembly member of the area, Mrs. Mankir Barchisu, noted that the problem has been there for years.
She complained bitterly that said her outfit confronted both past and present government appointees and yet nothing substantial came out of those. She called for government intervention before the rains set in.
