Over one hundred basic schools from ten districts in the Northern Region are benefiting from free eye screening and treatment by KOG CREATION, a nongovernmental organization.
The beneficiary districts include Karaga, Sagnarigu, Savelugu/Nanton municipality, Saboba and Yendi municipality. The rest are Chereponi, Gusheigu, and Nanumba North.
Speaking to Zaa News at the 5th anniversary launch of the organization at the Sagnarigu District ICT Centre, the Chief Executive Officer of KOG CREATION, Eric Owusu Gyimah explained that, children are very dear to the organisation and that children can be used as means of transforming the community.
According to Mr.Gyimah, about 80 percent of the causes of blindness can be prevented if they are detected and handled well at an early stage, hence the organization’s decision to embark on a project called AVOIDABLE BLINDNESS Elimination PROJECT across the country.
The KOG CREATION chief executive officer appealed to individuals and corporate institutions to help the project in order to enable the organization reach out to more children in other parts of the country.
The Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Alhaji Mohamed Haroon Cambodia thanked KOG Creation for its kind gesture and assured the organisation of his outfit’s support.
The District Chief Executive for Sagnerigu, Alhassan Mohammed Sorogodoo entreated the students to study hard in order to achieve greater heights, explaining that nothing good comes on a silver platter. Some of the beneficiary school children expressed their joy about the initiative made by KOG Creation.
