Finally, somebody in the upper echelons of the ministry of health has recognized the good work being done by the staff and management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH). It is none other than the deputy minister of health, Dr. Victor Banfo, who during a working visit to the hospital, heaped praise on hospital management for its excellent health delivery to the people of the north and also for the proper management of the facilities at the hospital.
Dr. Banfo praised the hospital management during his one day working visit to inspect completed and ongoing projects at the hospital. The minister’s inspection which coincided with a staff durbar at the hospital provided an opportunity to interact with the management and staff of the only teaching hospital in the three regions of the north. Dr. Banfo explained that the hospital has been able to manage its facilities judiciously since it was upgraded into a teaching hospital.
The Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Prosper Akanbong promised the people of the north and beyond a more quality and dedicated health care from now and the years ahead. He explained that more units in the hospital are under construction and if completed will meet the health need of every Ghanaian.
The Tamale Teaching Hospital which was upgraded in 2013 from a regional hospital currently has about 400 bed capacity and has other wards under construction which will increase the hospital’s bed capacity to 900 by June 2018.
