Tiyumba Hope Foundation Health organizes STD screening in Kumbungu

Tiyumba Hope Foundation over the weekend conducted a health screening exercise on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other ailments in the Kumbungu district. The exercise targeted both male and female adults and adolescents in the district.

It was to educate them on the need to practice safe sex life, prevent other sexually transmitted diseases and live healthy lives. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that are passed from one person to another through sexual contact. The causes of STDs are bacteria, parasites, yeast, and viruses.

Tiyumba Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization without funding from any institutional body or organization. Similar exercises are expected to be done in the Karaga, Tolon and Savelugu districts.

Tiyumba Hope Foundation-hope to the hopeless has its vision to educate some societal cankers in the Ghanaian community especially in the northern part of Ghana by educating and sensitizing the general public on some issues that affect the retard development in the Ghanaian communities.

Speaking to Zaa news, officials of the foundation say the screening was necessary as it brought health care to the door step of people in deprived areas who do not usually have access to know their status.

Sex education they say is important hence the need for the public to be sensitized and educated. They have therefore called on the district assemblies, NGOs, and other benevolent organizations and individuals to come to their aid. Residents who were happy about the initiative showed their appreciation to Tiyumba Hope Foundation for bringing hope to their door step.
