12 communities in Tolon district are electrified

Twelve communities in the Tolon District have been hooked to the National Grid under the Northern Region Electricity Project.  Hunam Construction Engineering Group Limited started the project commenced in March 2018.

The beneficiary communities include Tolon Sabegu, Tolon Cheshagu, Dabogu-shee, Fihini and Vowagri. Others are Yobzeri, Nlaala Yili, Gbanjong and Nag’bilgu. The rest are Zagua, Kpalgun and Kuglogu.

The District Chief Executive of Tolon, Mrs Barkisu Yakubu Barkisu who spoke to the media at the commissioning ceremony reiterated government’s commitment to improve the lives of ordinary Ghanaians, especially in rural areas by implementing various social intervention policies and programmes.

She said electricity is of great priority to people in most communities in the district, forcing the District Assembly and the Member of Parliament to work assiduously to ensure that the communities get electricity.

Mrs Barkisu assured the assembly will continue to ensure the rapid development of the communities and its people in the district. The Project Supervisor, Mr. Owusu Ansah urged the communities to use the electricity wisely in order to avoid the dangers associated with electric power.
