The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Advans Ghana Savings and Loans Company Ltd Guillaume Valence has emphasized the crucial role tree planting plays in mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting economic growth. He highlighted the significance of sustainable practices in ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.

The CEO was speaking during a tree-planting exercise in Zugu Forest reserves in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region. This year’s exercise which was under the theme, ‘Planting for a Greener Tomorrow’, was done together with clients and with the support of the Forestry Commission of Ghana.

The CEO added that despite providing impeccable financial services to customers, the company over the years, has given back to society through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives which spanned from donations, tree planting exercise, painting of market sheds, distribution of waste bins, health screening, among others.

“Particularly on tree planting, this is not the first. In fact, it is now an annual exercise that started in 2019. And since then, we have planted over 5,500 trees. We do not only plant, but we also invest in taking care of these trees after planting and this enabled us to achieve a 90% survival rate last year” the CEO noted.

Over 1,000 teak and shea trees were planted at the Zugu forest reserve in the Kumbungu district of the Northern Region. Key objective of the exercise is to replace the usage of A4 papers by the institution and to combat climate change.

Commenting on the event, the Forestry Range Manager for Tamale Office Raymond Abaare commended Advans Ghana Savings and Loangs Company Limited for their continues support. He however, bemoaned the human activities threatening the survival of the trees.
