The Kumbungu Directorate of the National Commission for Civic (NCCE) have begun sensitizing pupils and students in the district on their civic responsibilities.
The sensitization forms part of an annual constitution week celebration in some selected basic schools in the District.
The weeklong celebration begun on the 26th May 2021 is on the theme; ‘We are one Ghana first’ targets young pupils to instill in them the spirit of oneness, Ghanaian Values and patriotism.
The NCCE District Director of Kumbungu, Mrs Janet Ameseya took pupils of Zugu and Sunnia JHS through the various way they can promote the prestige and the good name of Ghana as enshrined in the 1992 Constitution.
She admonished them to be good citizens by respecting all the National symbols, defending the Constitution, fostering national unity and safeguarding and protecting the environment.
The resource person from Ghana Police Service, Sargent. Portia Ahiagbe of advised the pupils to stay away from crime related acts. Sargent Portia reminded the pupils that criminal activities such as drug abuse could destroys their future.
She encouraged them to report to the police and other institutions any form of abuse.
The police officer further advised the pupils to not be afraid to report any one they suspect engaging in criminal activities or committing a crime to the police assuring them that the police are there to protect lives and properties of citizens.
