The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Sa-eed. has called on the people of the northern region to eschew all forms of violence for the development of the region. According to him, conflict and development do not have anything in common, adding “If we need opportunities for growth and development, then we must stop all forms of violence.”Any person who is caught in any act of violence will remain unlucky because the laws will be fully applied by the security agencies,” he said.
Mr Sa-eed was speaking at the graduation ceremony of about 135 youth beneficiaries of the Youth-Led Initiative for Employment (Youth Life) project in Tamale implemented by the Catholic Relief Service (CRS).
According to the northern regional minister, the high rate of youth unemployment is a threat to the peace and security of every nation, saying government under President Akuffo Addo recognizes this, and has accordingly made employment and job creation a priority. This, he said, is the surest way to building a just, equitable, peaceful and democratic country, where every citizen can realize their full potential.
He was therefore impressed with the steps that CRS has taken towards reducing the rate of youth unemployment in the region and assured it of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council’s (RCC) readiness to support the course.
