The Tamale Teaching Hospital has described as untrue, media reports that the regional chairman of the NPP, Mr. Abdul Fataw Bugri Naabu, who is on admission at the facility has been airlifted to Accra.
It said Mr. Naabu is still at the hospital and is conscious and stable. The NPP regional chairman was involved in a near fatal-accident last night, while returning from Sawla and Bole, where he had gone to campaign for the upcoming regional elections slated for this Saturday.
Chairman Naabu’s vehicle was said to have veered off the road, while it was raining, and the driver lost control of the steering wheel. The vehicle somersaulted several times and landed on the side. Media reports earlier today suggested there was a spinal operation and plans were in advance to airlift chairman Bugri to Accra.
But the Public Relations Officer for TTH, Dr. Ken Osei Mensah, who spoke to Zaa News said the victims are all in stable condition. Dr. Mensah also dispelled reports that Chairman Bugri underwent a surgical operation, adding that the hospital never recommended airlifting him Accra.
Meanwhile two other occupants who suffered a head injury and a fractured leg are receiving treatment at the TTH. Two others also sustained what medical officers said are minor injuries.
