Zaa Radio have been awarded by World University Service of Canada, Ghana (WUSC) for its meritorious contribution and promotion of the agriculture sector in Northern Ghana. The award forms part of WUSC Ghana’s appreciation to its partners for making its guinea fowl project a success in Northern region.
The Canada based organization for the past five years have trained and supported individuals and groups in the area of guinea fowl rearing in Northern region. The project was piloted in about seven districts across the region and has supported over 5000 beneficiaries.
As part of the project’s execution, WUSC Ghana has conducted researches using its Canadian and Ghanaian students on the field regarding guinea fowl farming. In the quest to reach out to the masses with education and information on guinea fowl rearing, WUSC Ghana used radio as a tool in that regard and Zaa radio played a major role.
Zaa radio on its weekly agric program dubbed “Pukpariba saha” promoted the project to get to the very rural people as part of the station’s commitment to serving our people. Findings of the project from the field was broadcasted live on Zaa radio, which as a result made the project appreciated in the region.
Presenting the award to the station, the project coordinator, Awudu Zakaria said, it was a way of thanking the station and to motivate them to continue with its good works.
The award was received by the General Manager of Zaa radio, Yahaya Mubarik Lincon, assistant manager, Alhaji Seidu Kayaba and the programs manageress, Mma Memunatu. Management of Zaa radio used the opportunity to reiterate the stations commitment to serving the North and the local people.
