Jonas Biawurbi

Zaa News’s Jonas Bawurbi has been selected to participate in a training workshop for journalists on human trafficking and livestock trade in West Africa.

The training which is organized by CILSS? is aimed at contributing to a better collation and dissemination of information and stories surrounding the various actors and the impact of each professional group upon others.

The workshop which is bringing together media workers (print, web media, radio and TV) from across thirteen countries in the Sahel and coastal countries, aims to explain to the journalists, the mobile operating systems and the stakeholders involved in order to avoid turning farmer-breeder conflicts into ethnic conflicts.

The participating journalists were selected from applications with their CVs, letters of motivation, questionnaires, interviews and submission of work done on the said topic.

In all, sixteen (16) journalists from 13 countries (Burkina Faso, Benin, Côte D’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Chad and Togo) will be involved in the training, with one representative per country except for Togo and Nigeria which will each have 2 journalists.

In addition to journalists, there are CILSS experts for technical issues (the PEPISAO Expert in Social Engineering, the PREDIP / PEPISAO Communication Expert) and a team of trainers.

The training will commence on Monday, October 7 and end on Thursday, October 11 at Miklin hotel in Accra.
