Zabzugu Former MP Organizes Free Health Screening For Constituents
The former Member of Parliament and aspiring NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Zabzugu Constituency, Hon. Alhassan Umar, organized free health screenings over the weekend for the residents of Zabzugu and its environs. Residents flocked in large numbers to the screening center for the exercise, as that was seen the first of its kind in the area.
The former MP initiated it when the NDC’s Zabzugu Constituency Youth wing organized its Health Walk to energize the party’s youth base and assist them in improving their physical and mental well-being in readiness to rally for both parliamentary and presidential victory in the constituency.
The former MP, in collaboration with the Triple S Foundation, had a total of one hundred (100) attendees screened, sensitized, and sanitized during the exercise in Zabzugu township.
When Zaa nrews reporter interviewed one vibrant team member, she stated that the residents were screened for Hepatitis “B”, weight, high blood pressure, malaria, HIV/AIDS, and RBS/FBS (random blood sugar/fasting blood sugar), among others. She further told Zaa News that beneficiaries of such a screening exercise with severe health issues were referred to the Zabzugu Hospital for immediate and necessary interventions, while others were reassured and educated on the way forward.
The beneficiaries of the exercise could not hide their feelings and expressed their profound gratitude to him. They were however quick to appeal to him and other prominent people from the area for more of such programs to help them improve their well-being.
When Hon. Alhassan Umar was contacted on the phone by the Zaa News, he said it was his vision to ensure that his constituents, as a former MP and aspirant, have access to a quality, healthy lifestyle irrespective of their economic situation, because for him, health is wealth. “This is to give them the opportunity to have their health checked for any bothersome health issues and get medical attention for such minor conditions,” he added.
He mentioned that Alhassan Umar will continue to prioritize the health needs of the people in the area and that it was against this background that, he provided number of physical development projects and supported several students in the area and, more importantly, the Reproductive and Child Health Center (RCH) in Zabzugu township. He used the opportunity to appeal to all NDC delegates to vote for him.
