The National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan has expressed worry over low turnout in the ongoing registration exercise of Ghanaians who have turn 18 years.
Yaw Boateng Gyna who was in the region monitor the exercise attributed the low turnout in the region to the migration of the youth from the north to the south in search for jobs.
Yaw Boateng Gyan told Zaa News in an exclusive interview that, in spite of the low patronage of exercise the political party’s interest in it is encouraging.
Earlier, the northern regional chairman of the NPP Bugri Naabu described the exercise as waste of government alleging that the electoral commission has some something to hide because they have not educate the public on the exercise.
But the national NDC organizer says the NPP always accused the EC since they lost power in 2018 elections and advise the NPP to review their stands against the electoral commission.
On whether extension of the date will help the people to register, Yaw Boateng Gyan said it may not be bad idea but the habit of Ghanaians towards national exercise such as the EC registration must change. Meanwhile, the registration exercise has ended with low turnout with no indication of the EC to extend the date for new voters.
