Some aggrieved concerned youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Savelugu Constituency of the Northern Region have cautioned the former Northern Regional Minister under NPP regime, Prince Imoro Andani to be careful in order not to let blood flow as history accuses him of being the main cause of bloodshed in Dagbon.
The youth reminded Prince Imoro Andani that, the Yendi case is still fresh in their minds. He resigned as the northern regional minister in 2002 following the violence conflict in Yendi.
The youth descended on Mr Imoro following issues emanating from the just ended NPP parliamentary aspirants vetting which did not go down well with some party supporters who accused him of imposing an aspirant, Mohammed Hafiz on them.
The youth also accused him of hijacking the vetting process and imposed himself as Chairman on panel 2 of the vetting committee that was selected to vet the aspirants from Savelugu. According to the youth, Mr Imoro Andani failed to allow panel members to query the said Hafiz on issues raised in the petitions brought against. The youth are demanding explanations from Mr Imoro Andani why Hafiz was vetted in Dagbani instead of English, the official language for the process.
They also asked Mr Andani whether he was aware of how the panel was to be constituted and which team was to handle Savelugu constituency? was he part of the team selected by the region to vet the Savelugu aspirants? Was the committee well constituted as captured in the guidelines, can we call it illegal and a slap on the party's constitution which provides the guidelines.
They could not understand why Mr Imoro Andani allegedly forced the secretary and the chairman to sign on to a form that the candidate himself failed to submit before them for signing. The youth in a statement signed by their leader Abdulai Yakubu Olman chastised some regional executives including regional secretary, Sule Salifu; Rregional organizer, Alhaji Hindu; 1st Vice chairperson Hajia Samata and Second Vice Chair person Alhaji Sunday of exhibiting what they described as ignorance and arrogance in the running of the party's affairs which are being fueled by receipts of 'white envelopes' on daily bases.
The youth therefore warned the regional executives mentioned and Mr Andani to desist from interfering in the matter. They have expressed regret that the open machinations have succeeded in dividing the party in the constituency and that the current impasse that has escalated was due to the inability of the regional executives to resolve the issues of misconduct of some constituency executives.
When contacted, Mr Imoro Adani said, he would not comment on the matter because the vetting committee had already submitted their report to the party leadership.
Meanwhile, some angry youth on Tuesday evening went on rampage and vandalized some pavilions of the NPP in Savelugu to register their displeasure about the current happenings in the party. Supporters of various aspirants in the constituency engaged in physical violence over escalating division in the area.
