Faith Youth Association (FYA), a nonprofit making organization has commissioned a three-unit classroom block for the Garizegu R/C cluster of schools. The classroom block was built on appeals by chief of the community, Alhassan Yakubu.
In his address during a handover ceremony of the block, Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Haroon Cambodia cautioned staff of the school and community members to make good use of the structure. He advised against the misuse of public property as it always has greater effects on the individuals.
Mr. Haroon also entreated parents and guardians to focus more on girl-child education. He noted that, girl-child education is of more benefit to society therefore the need to give equal opportunity to them. On his part, the Head teacher of Garizegu primary school expressed his gratitude to Faith Youth Association for their kind gesture.
He assured them that the structure will be well protected and used for its intended purpose. He also revealed that one of the classrooms will be used as a staff common room therefore the intervention is timely. The project cost GH¢90,000.00.
Meanwhile, Faith Youth Association has over the years been involved in various philanthropic activities including, regular donations to orphanages, maternal health and HIV education, clean-up exercises and the refurbishment of schools in communities. Other activities by FYA are tree planting, advocacy in violence against women and offering support to needy but brilliant children.
