Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) has been closed down by the Ghana Education Service imageon Monday after students threatened to burn their assistant head master’s car, authorities said.

According to officials, students threatened to torch the assistant headmaster’s car after they had embarked on rioting during which they destroyed school properties.

For disobeying school rules, the culprits, numbering one hundred and sixty students were made to pay a penalty of two bags of cement but this did not go down well with them, authorities said.

On Thursday at the usual morning assembly briefing, students disrupted the gathering and proceeded to go on rampage, destroying the school’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) center in the process. Authorities were alarmed and scared when the students issued a threat to burn the assistant headmaster’s car.

Some students were observed hauling their bags off campus amidst heavy armed police personnel presence and a torrential downpour. Meanwhile, the fate of students from outside the northern region is yet to be determined. Sources say they are frantically searching for accommodation around the city.

School authorities had instructed students after the independence day celebration on 6th March not to leave the campus without exit permits. However, some truant students disobeyed the order thus compelling school authorities to conduct a roll call. It was then, authorities discovered that some students had sneaked out despite the warning.

Some of the frustrated students told News Prince Kwame Tamakloe that they are not happy about the incident but have no option but to go. Final year students writing their WASSCE practicals have also left. They will stay at home while commuting to school for the exams
