Kumbungu MP supports 21 students with 10,500 cedis

The member of parliament for Kumbungu constituency, Mr Ras Mubarak has presented an amount of GHS 10,500 to 21 students pursuing various programs at the tertiary institutions. Each student received GHS 500.

In all, the school fees of 46 students were supposed to be paid by the MP through his share of the district assembly’s common fund but 21 cheques were ready .

The beneficiary students were given the cheques at a short ceremony in Kumbungu on Friday.

The support was from the third quarter of 2017 share of the MPs share of the common fund.

Mr Mubarak whose message was conveyed to the beneficiaries by Mr Adam Yakubu told the parents that, their presence was necessary because some students may take the financial support and still demand support from parents.

The Kumbungu legislator reminded parents that even though education at the Senior High School (SHS) level is free, tertiary education remains a big challenge to most parents.

He assured them that as their legislative representative he will do his best to assist parents.

The beneficiaries are students at Tamale Technical University College of Education (TTUCE) School of Hygiene, University for Development Studies (UDS) and Tamale Training College.

The Kumbungu district assembly finance officer, who presented the cheques to the beneficiaries explained that the delay was due to the application process.

All beneficiaries were advised to submit their receipts of payment of schools fees for auditing purposes.

The Kumbungu Bomahi Naa, Afa Kpegwu who chaired the function advised the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and stay away from bad friendships that could affect their future.
