Basic schools within the Nakpachei community have been close down indefinitely following ethnic clashes between Konkombas and Dagombas.
Both the primary and junior high schools have been closed.
Ruminants have taken over the schools at least for now.
Teachers and workers of the education sector have also fled the community for fear of being attacked.
Parents rushed to the various schools within Nakpachei community when confusion erupted and took their children away.
Final year junior high school students of the Nakpachei community are likely not to write their final exams.
The Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) registration will take place on Monday November 12, but currently schools are closed down and if nothing is being done about the situation, the final year students might not be able to write their final exams, officials said.
The violence claimed the life of an 80-year-old chief Imam of the Nakpachei community, whose name was only given as Alhassan.
He was said to have been ambushed by the Konkombas on his way to the community unaware of any disturbances.
