The Regent of Dagbon Kampakuya Naa Abdulai Andani has assured the authorities of the St. Charles Minor Seminary school he will personally liaise with government to speed up renovation of the school’s dormitory block that was guttered by fire last month.
He said as an old student, he is already in touch with his colleagues both in the country and abroad to raise support for the school to mitigate the effect of the disaster on the students.
It would be recalled that on March, 21, a raging fire guttered the GETFUND block of the school that houses over 500 students. The students were reportedly away at prep when the fire started. The students lost all their belongings and the dinning hall and some classrooms were converted to dormitories as an ad-hoc measure.
The King of Dagbon who visited the school last Saturday to empathize and sympathize with the students is urging parents and the church to contribute their quota to ensure the block is put in shape before the rains intensify.
The Headmaster of the school, Polycarp Kuusokub Beyelle, who briefed the Regent on how the fire started says provisional report of the Ghana National fire Service indicates hat fuses and wires in the dormitory were unduly tempered with by the students.
He commended sister schools and other prominent persons who visited and offered support to the school.
