3 out of 4 DCEs involved in accident are in critical conditions

Two  Municipal and two District Chief Executives in the Northern are in critical condition after they were involved in an accident on the Tamale-Kintampo road. The accident according to the police occurred on Sunday at about 05:50 am.

The four on admission at TTH have been identified by authorities as : Mr. Ahmed Abubakari Iddrisu  aged 50 years, Zabzugu DCE; Mr. Abdulai Yakubu 51 years, Bimbilla MCE; Mr. Mohammed Hashim Abdallah aged 48 years, Mion DCE and Mr. Musah Issah aged 44 years, Gushiegu MCE.

According to police, a Mercedes Benz saloon car with registration number GC 6196-11 veered off its lane and collided with a Nissan Patrol with registration number GT8465-19.
The driver of Mercedes Benz , Mr. Abdul Karim Zakaria aged 32 years, was heading towards from Accra to Tamale and on reaching a section of the road at Zanzugu Yipala village on Tamale-Kintampo motorway he  veered  off  his lane and  collided with the Nissan Patrol with registration No. GT 8465-19 driven by Mr. Ibrahim Abukari aged 27 years who was also driving from Tamale heading towards Wa in the Upper West Region.

Another Nissan Patrol with registration number GC 6196-11 from Accra heading towards Tamale had two persons on board. Police say all the occupants in both vehicles sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Tamale Teaching hospital where they were admitted for treatment.

Both vehicles authorities said were seriously damaged. Zaa News sources at TTH say the all the DCEs except the Bimbilla DCE are in very serious condition and are likely to be flown to Accra or Kumasi for further treatment.
