The Interior ministry has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew — 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m on Chereponi and Saboba townships and their environs.
The imposition according to the ministry follows the outbreak of violence in the towns arising from clashes between two ethnic groups —Konkombas and Chokosis.
A statement issued in Accra and signed by the interior minister Mr Ambrose Dery said the government will continue to urge chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them.
The statement advised the people in the area to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
The statement reminded the people that there is a total ban on all persons in the aforementioned communities and its surroundings from carrying arms or any offensive weapon and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
