The number of arrested made by the northern regional police have risen to 8 in the renewed communal violence in Chereponi district in the North eastern region.
The combined team of police and the military who effected the arrest have also retrieved six single barrel guns and one locally manufactured gun.
Northern regional police public relations officer DSP Yussif Tanko told the media this that the police are doing all their best to bring the situation under control.
The police he said are working hard to escort the vulnerable who mainly children and women to safety places. Several people have fled to neighbouring Togo and Yendi in the northern region. The internal displaced area for fear of their lives.
The violence DSP Yussif said has subsided this morning but the police and the military are making efforts to get into the interior part of the trouble areas.
He appealed to the leadership of both Konkombas and the Chocosi to call their people to order to eschew violence and let them know that violence is not the way to get what they want.
As at now, the tactics that we have employed have worked and the situation has come down considerable with only few intermittent troubles, DSP Yussif Tanko added.
