Bimbilla in the Nanumba North Municipality came to a standstill on the evening of Tuesday, October 3, 2023, as the people poured onto the streets in their numbers to celebrate this year’s Damba Festival with pomp. The tradition was also at its best as some chiefs rode on horseback with their entourage, made up of drummers and traditional warriors, displaying their mastery in musketry.
Men and women, as well as children, dressed in smocks and other traditional apparel, went on a procession through some of the principal streets of the municipality. They later converged at a durbar ground amid drumming and dancing.
The festival also attracted some foreign nationals from Africa and Europe.
Speaking at the durbar grounds, the Regent of the Nanung Traditional Area, Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu Andani Dasana, expressed his unwavering commitment to development and the revitalization of the Nanumba Kingdom.
Some enthusiastic celebrants who spoke to Zaa News described this year’s Damba Festival as one of its kind and called for more unity among all Nanumbas for accelerated development.
