Farmers in the Mion District of the Northern Region are appealing to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to step-up efforts to prevent the fall army worm from destroying their crops.
They say the army worms have started invading their farms, destroying several acres of maize farms. The Mion district farmers are the second group of farmers to have drawn government’s attention after farmers in the East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly in the North Eastern region complain bitterly about the army worm destruction.
A farmer at Kpalkori told Zaa News his five acres maize farm is under serious attack and appealed for immediate intervention before their crops are wiped-off. Zaa News checks at per-Urban communities within Tamale metro and Sagnarigu municipality revealed that several backyard gardens are under attack.
