Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed has denied his involvement in the missing of some 400 tricycles of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), worth about 2 million Ghana cedis.
A statement signed by the Minister said, he has never directed anybody or group of people to pick any tricycles from the NDA yard in his name as claimed by NDA’s former CEO, Dr Alhaji Abdel-Majeed HAROUN.
Mr Saeed said he rather ensured the protection of said items upon when he was appointed as regional minister until the appointment of the CEO of NDA.
The said claim being purported by the letter of the former NDA boss and US-based Ghanaain journalists Kelvin Taylor’s report is false and a palpable lie.
Mr Saeed described the ongoing controversy surrounding the tricycles as an attempt to soil his hard earned reputation and hard work.
The minister said he would have written formally to the NDA, giving clear directions and the locations to deposit the items.
‘As head of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), there was the need for the CEO who had access to me to verify before allowing the so-called assignees of mine to pick those tricycles as claimed, Mr Saeed stated.
He has subsequently asked the investigative bodies to open a full scale investigation into the entire tricycles matter, dating back to 2016 in accordance with the laid down procedures and laws.
