President Nana Akufo-Addo has reminded the chiefs in the northern region that he does not belong to any chieftaincy divide.
The president while commending the Mamprugu traditional area for their effort to resolved communal conflict in the area said;”
I am not a party to any side of chieftaincy divide in the northern region and Ghana”.
The president at durbar at the Nayiri palace during his second day tour of the northern region told the people that they have every reason to demand for north eastern region.
He said he support the creation of the new regions which according to him was not new in Ghana’s democratic governance.
He reminded that he has fufils his constitutional obligations and the final decision rest in the upcoming referendum. Your vote is your power now.
Once you secure the 80% require votes, I will append my signature for new region, he stated.
The president told the people that before he earmarked on the 3 regions tour, he wrote a letter to the electoral commission to begin the process of organizing the referendum.
If everything go according to plans, the president was sure that the new regions would come into be before Christmas.
