Member of Parliament for Karaga Constituency cuts sod for construction of Pishigu Police Station.

The Deputy Energy Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Karaga Constituency Dr. Mohammed Amin Anta has cut sod for the construction of the Pishigu Police Station. The police station which will cost 237,000 Ghana cedis will have two cells for male and female. It is expected to be completed in six month.

Addressing a gathering before the sod cutting, Dr. Amin Anta expressed worry that the district recently has been infested with armed robbers of all shades, using sophisticated weapons to operate. He said they brazenly waylay traders on the highways and deprive them of their monies and personal effects and in some cases even murder their victims in cold blood.

He noted the activities of these armed robbers have compelled many residents in and around Karaga to live in fear. Dr Amin Anta reiterated his commitment to support to the Police to maintain law and order in the Karaga District. He admonished leadership of political parties to also support the police to do their work and desist from shielding criminals in the name of politics.

The Karaga District Police Commander Supt. Alhaji Abdul-Latif Nbonwura commended Dr. Anta for his support to the police. He said the police station when completed will remarkably change policing in the area.

‘’ I think this will enable us get more policemen closer to the communities to reduce the burden in Karaga district, but we need the support from the public, the work of the police is collective and collaborative and so we need the support of the chiefs, assemblymen and everybody at Karaga to be able to make it a reality’’, he indicates.
