The Member of Parliament for Tamale South constituency, Lawyer Haruna Iddrisu has donated some items to his constituents as part of efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic which have bedeviled the country and the world at large.
The donation which was made on his behalf by the Constituency executives is targeted at Chief Palaces, CHIPS compounds, Abattoirs and Identifiable groups with the plans to extend the donations to the larger group of people in the Tamale South constituency is to aid in the fight against the Coronavirus.
The items includes two hundred Veronica buckets, two hundred Veronica buckets metal stands, one thousand five hundred large packs of tissue papers, two hundred tissue collection bins, large quantity of liquid soap and three thousand bottles of hand sanitizers
The exercise is also part of efforts being made to promote hygiene and to assist the constituents be able to adhere to the regular hand washing with soap under running water and the usage of hand sanitizers in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking on behalf of the MP who doubles as the Minority leader in Ghanas’s Parliament, the communications officer, Abdul Ganiu Sandow said the items donated will help in promoting good sanitation practices and also serve as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Receiving the items, the Gukpegu-Wurshei Naa, Adam Lansah thanked the MP for the kind gesture done them but appealed for more to be done in the fight against the COVID-19.
He further called on his subjects to take into practice the washing of hands with soap under running water whiles calling on philanthropists to aid the palace donate more of the Veronica buckets to the people.
At the Bilpela Health Center, the Physician Assistant in charge of the Bilpela Sub-District, Saleema Salami received the items on behalf of the health center and expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the timely intervention of Lawyer Haruna Iddrisu.
“We want to say that may God richly bless him for thinking about us here and thinking that we need these things that will help enhance our work. We pray that the almighty Allah will continue to strengthen him and increase him in everything his heart desires. We can only say thank you but nothing else. If everyone was to do this, we wouldn’t be where we are,” Mrs Salami added.
She appealed to the well to do in the society to emulate the exemplary gestures of the Minority Leader to support the Bilpela Health Center in the fight against the COVID-19.
One person tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Ghana to 205.
According to the Ghana Health Service, the latest patient is from the Upper East Region with no travel history or contact with any of the confirmed cases in the country.
Currently, the number of regions with reported cases is six – Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, Northern, Upper East, and Upper West.
