Prospective Ghana card holders at Nyakpala in the Tolon District have expressed their disappointment at the conduct of NIA officials manning the centers.
The residents have accused the registration officials of ignoring those who have left their busy schedule and spend sleepless night at the centers and are rather registering their friends and families as well party cronies.
The angry residents who have taken down their names on a book provided by the NIA officials were not happy that the same officials sneaked in people through back door into Nyankpala D/A primary school ICT center where the registration is taken place.
The NIA official’s behavior, the residents said was very bad. According to them, they expect explanations on the slow pace of the process but the officers are not ready to provide reasons for the delays.
The residents could not understand why NIA will put another registering center at Islamiyya which is just a stone throw to D/A when they could have set up one at the University for Development Studies campus. According to them, both staff and students at UDS are struggling with the residents to get registered.
Some centers such as Legion and Kulikuli school among others in Tamale have all had their fare share of the challenges, from break down of machines to time wasting of registrants who spends all their time at the centers just to obtain the National Identification Card.
Meanwhile, officials of the NIA at the centers have declined to comment on the challenges, adding they have been warned not to speak to the media.
