Thirteen suspected Nigerian prostitutes operating at Victory cinema have been arrested by the northern regional police command during a joint police and military operation.
The suspects were rounded up in the ongoing police crackdown of criminals in areas within the Tamale metropolis and its surrounding communities.
Northern Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Mr Otuo Acheampong who disclosed this to Zaa News said the suspected Nigeria prostitutes have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service.
Supritendent Acheampong said the exercise is ongoing one to bring sanity in the region and also ensure that people engaging in any criminal activity is punished according to the laws of the country.
Northern Regional Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Mr Edward Kofi Owusu, confirmed to Zaa News and said the suspected Nigeria prostitutes are in their custody pending further negotiations.
The 13 suspected prostitutes, ACI Kofi Owusu said were escorted to Accra after their statement were taken for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Community in the Northern region have also confirmed to Zaa News that the ladies were the Negiria nationals but couldn’t readily tell how they got to Ghana and reporterdly engage in prostitution.
Mr Samuel Okwu told Zaa News the immigration always inform them anytime their country men is arrested.
‘Vice chairman of Negiria community who double as our spokesperson is always invited to cases involving Negirians’ , Mr Okwu said.
