S/R: Suspected armed robber nabbed at Busunu

A suspected armed robber have been arrested at Kededilenpa, a farming community near Busunu in the Damongo Municipality of the Savannah region. The suspect who is identified as Bukari and two others have been accused of kidnapping a man believed to be in his late 40s.

The victim also identified as Sudi, who managed to escape while the suspected kidnappers were asleep narrated his ordeal to the paramount chief of Busunu, Busunu wura Monasah I. According to him, he was asked to transport a woman on his motorbike from Kedendilenpa to Busunu since there are no vehicles plying the road.

Upon reaching a certain part of the road where one will have to cross a stream, three unknown men came out from the bush and ordered him to stop. These suspects, all Fulani men after assaulting the woman, the victim picked on his bike, freed her and then took him (the victim) with them into the bush.

The suspects, Sudi said fell asleep by midnight giving him the opportunity to escape. He however revealed that, before they fell asleep, they had planned on a highway robbery on Monday, which happens to be a day most cattle farmers sell their cattle.

The molested woman upon managing to reach home, reported the matter to his uncle who mobilized men to trace and track the suspects. Two of the suspects fled upon seeing the men while Bukari was arrested.

He has since been handed over to the Busunu Police and is expected to be transferred to the Damongo Municipal Police command to assist in further investigation. The incident happened on friday, March 27, 2020 noon.
